Vara'l stepped off the turbolift and headed directly to the tactical console. Once there he settled into a comfortable standing posture and started to check over tactical readouts as he smoothly slipped into the pre-departure checks for the TAC systems. As he worked he idly noted the flash of his PADD's message notification and mentally 'filed' a note to himself within his mind to check the PADD once he'd completed the checks.

Rii followed closely behind Vara’l, their mind already turning over the details of the next mission as they stepped onto the bridge. Their sharp gaze swept across the room, noting who was present before they moved to the side—poised, attentive, and ready to step in or take a console if needed.

Vara'l stiffened, looking more professional as they remained at the Tactical console and continued to work through the pre-departure checks. Once they were completed he proceeded to declare. "Pre-departure checks for Tactical completed commander, all systems prepared for departure." Before he placed his PADD on the console for a moment and checked the message, Idly noted Elohae's response about the lengthy message he'd launched off to them. Once that was acknowledged but also met with the text equivalent of a raised eyebrow.

Entering the bridge via the turbolift, Dagis gave a nod to everyone more senior than her in the room, and a smile to those who weren't, and headed over to the Operations console to take her seat.

The Assistant Chief took his spot at the security console aboard the Eventide, still as stone-faced as ever. This was certainly going to prove to be an interesting mission, especially since it may very well be his first aboard the bridge properly given his promotion…hrm.

Hey bitches fellas guess what - it him. The designated 777 taxi driver was already at the helmsman console, beeping and booping around with it, prepping the ship for a takeoff as soon as he was given the command.

Feeling ever so slightly out of place, the Annari man found a free spot to park himself in for the duration of the ride - a short one, thankfully, given the system's proximity to the starbase. Finally, an event where the place people are going to is in the same sector as the station, and the timeskip makes most sense.

Having been studying for the mission in their ready room while people were boarding the ship, Xaran finally made it onto the bridge as the final few folks appeared to be trickling on. Giving a nod and a friendly smile to everyone present, and admittedly a slightly bigger smile to their favourite taxi driver, the ship's XO moved themself over to the centre of the bridge and stood, clasping their hands behind their back. "Good morning everyone. You've all been briefed on what we're doing today so I shan't waste time on that again. I don't anticipate any complications but anything is possible on an exploratory mission, so I expect everyone to have their heads on a swivel and to bring their a-game today, just as you always do every day. Helm, what's our status on departure clearance?"

"We're good to go sir!" came a rather cheery reply from a pilot that was all too happy to stretch his legs... wings?.. out. Sy gave a thumbs up to reiterate his words. (edited)

With the departure clearance and the command out of the way, the USS Eventide had begun it's trek to the Thrakos system - no time to waste!

With the magic of the time skip and a cut to a scene, the Eventide got out of the warp and came to a stop in front of a planet. Thrakos V appeared similar to Earth - while noticeably bigger than the human homeplanet, it sported a familiar blue-green coloration, with richer greens of the foliage and swirling hues of blue of it's oceans.

"It's so similar yet so different to our old colony world..." the Annari mused, staring at the scene in front of him with wonder.

After totally entering the room at some point and giving a nod to anyone that met her eyes, she had been standing at the science console going over all the standard steps. It was nice to be on a ship once more. When their destination came into view before them she raised her head to look at it. She did not think it would ever get old seeing a new planet for the first time, even if she had none of Bahram's emotional attachment to the one in front of them.

Cdr. Xaran Aisut | CMD BOT 15-Feb-25 06:55 PM
As they fell out of warp the XO immediately eyed the planet, studying it even if only a moment before speaking up. "Alright then, let's get to it. Science, what do we have on scans? I want as much data as possible before we send people down there."
Avatar
Cdr. Evoras Lhai'Ivek | SCI BOT 15-Feb-25 07:08 PM
She nodded and tore her eyes away from the planet, returned them to the console in front of her. Starting the scans was a process that she barely had to think about. She had done this many, many times, but was still intrigued by what the results would say.

Breathable atmosphere, relatively high humidity, warm temperatures, no sentient lifeforms but a rather rich array of both floral and faunal life... and an interference that Bahram mentioned before.

"The scans confirm the information we were informed of previously, there is indeed something interfering with the scans." She said turning to the Commander, before also relaying the rest of the information.

Lt. Cdr. Vara'l tr'Hara | TAC BOT 15-Feb-25 07:34 PM
Vara'l monitored the tactical console as he listened to the others converse. Watched the tactical readouts as well and idly looked for any sign that might have indicated that this interference with scans happened to be something less than natural. Something that might be noticed by Vara'l. He always looked for such things. Always. It was just how he was hardwired. Things needed to be checked and so he looked.

Unfortunately - or, perhaps, fortunately in this situation - the tactical console remained silent, not indicating any unnatural interferences. Makes sense, and reinforces the information about the planet being uninhabited and untouched by sentient lifeforms.

Fortunately, would have been what Vara'l argued. After all, he wished..he prayed for a world where a tactical station wouldn't be needed. Where soldiers wouldn't be needed. Or at least part of him did, not that he'd ever have admitted it. No. For now he just..relaxed slightly and continued to watch the console as was expected of him, in this situation.

Cdr. Xaran Aisut | CMD BOT 15-Feb-25 07:43 PM
Okay, so they weren't wrong about the interference, although what could be causing that they weren't sure. Could be anything though, realistically speaking. "Understood. Cross reference the type of interference we're receiving with previously documented naturally occurring instances in our database, anything that could indicate the potential cause of this." They instructed, before tapping their commbadge. "All hands, this is Commander Aisut. Those volunteering for the planetary survey are to report to the shuttlebay with all necessary equipment. Repeat, all personnel for the planetary survey to the shuttlebay."

Lt. Cdr. Vara'l tr'Hara | TAC BOT 15-Feb-25 07:48 PM
Vara'ls eyes flicked up and he looked to the commander. Looked to them and proceeded to ask after a moment. "Commander, permission to leave the bridge to join the away mission?" The Romulan inquired then as he watched her and awaited her decision on that matter. Was he needed on the bridge or could he go? That wasn't a question that could be answered by him, that was a question to be asked of the Commander and he'd asked so he waited.

Lt. Syrax tr'Morvar | CMD BOT 15-Feb-25 08:04 PM
"Sir, given that someone needs to man the shuttle, can I go to the shuttlebay as well?" Syrax perked up, because as far as the GM was aware, there was indeed, 0 pilots in the event sans her own damn character. With the permission given, he swiftly left. (edited)

Cdr. Xaran Aisut | CMD BOT 15-Feb-25 08:12 PM
"Both of you can go, yes. That's why we have additional bridge officers, after all." Xaran responded with a chuckle, before sitting back down in their chair. "Besides, they have better chances if they have an excellent pilot and a Tactical officer with years of experience having their backs."

Lt. Cdr. Vara'l tr'Hara | TAC BOT 15-Feb-25 08:14 PM
Vara'l briefly looked poleaxed at the compliment as to his abilities. "Thank you for the compliment sir." The Romulan responded before he grabbed what he handed off the tactical position to another officer and headed directly for the Turbolift. Once at it, he then stepped in and departed from the bridge.

Bannosta stayed on the ship while the away mission set off. She entered the bridge but kept out of the way of folks as they monitored the mission status. She'd help from here if needed.
